The Accent online, the student voice of Austin Community College, posted a great recap of FFF 2009 on their site today.

"Fun Fun Fun Fest was jam-packed with music, skateboarding, comedy, mud on Sunday, tallboys, a goat and a mechanical bull. The Accent previewed over 50 bands, shot video and damaged only one camera."

* All tickets for Fun Fun Fun Fest are will-call only. No tickets will arrive in the mail etc.*

To help you easily breeze into the festival this year we're offering early will-call ticket pickup Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evenings this week. We'll be conveniently located at the Club De Ville parking lot so come on down and grab your tickets.

If you haven't gotten your Fun Fun Fun tickets yet, now's the time. Come purchase tickets at the current prices during early bird pickup times ($53.61 for 1 day passes and $89.36 for weekend passes). Prices will change the day of the festival so take advantage of this great opportunity!

Wednesday November 4th - Friday November 6th, 2009. Will-call pickup for prior ticket purchases as well as new ticket purchases (does not include guest or media lists).
Guest and media list pickup is offered on Friday from 7:30 pm - 12:00 am, Saturday 11:00 am - 10:00 pm and Sunday 11:00 am - 8:00 pm.

By now you know the linue for this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest, and you're already planning your schedule. Once again, the festivities kick off on Friday night at the Mohawk and Club Deville, where Austinist hosts our annual Local Music Is Sexy party and the After the Jump Blogger's Panel along with the Austin Convention & Visitors Bureau.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening, Maura Johnston (Idolator), Justin Gage (Aquarium Drunkard), Peter Gaston (SPIN), David Prince (Billboard, Daily Swarm), Joe Gross (Austin American-Statesman) and Paige Maguire (Austinist, WOXY) will be discussing the ever-thinning line between new media and the mainstream. There will be a question period and cocktails after the panel.

Local Music Is Sexy begins promptly at 8 p.m., and this year's lineup is our best yet. Air Traffic Controllers, Distant Seconds, the Low Lows, TV Torso, Black Before Red, Silent Land Time Machine, Manikin, The Authors, Watch Out for Rockets and International Waters will all perform, and there will be a special presentation by the Minor Mishap Marching Band. Austin Kleon will also be on hand, drawing our party from the upper deck.

As always, the event serves as an early-bird credential pick-up for folks covering the festival. Show up and get your wristbands Friday night to save yourself from long lines on Saturday morning at the park.

Hello all,

Its definitely been a trying few days. On the night of Saturday October 17th, while riding his bike home, a car hit Ian Mcdougall, guitarist of our band Riverboat Gamblers. He sustained some pretty heavy injuries including a broken hip, a broken wrist and hemmoraging under the skull along with many lacerations, torn ligaments, bruises and and scrapes.

He was rushed by ambulance to Brackenridge hospital in Austin and stayed in the ICU for 2 days before being moved into his own room where he is undergoing physical therapy while awaiting the results on X-rays and MRIs as well as a deluge of other various tests.

That being said, the prognosis is better than we had first thought. We are happy that he is going to be ok and that he is alive and with us. Unfortunately, not only is he in for a long recovery and is in a lot of pain, but he will be celebrating his birthday in bed with hospital food.

On another unfortunate note, there are a pile of bills currently gaining a Mt. Everest-like summit from all his hospital expenses. We set up a PayPal account and Tumblr site for our band mate and friend to try and help him get on top of the debt and focus on his recovery. Thank you all for your support and we wish Ian the speediest of recoveries.

WHO: Now in its fourth year, Fun Fun Fun Fest has made a significant impact on the countrys winter calendar, successfully combining the vast worlds of indie, punk, rap, electronica and comedy while showcasing some of the citys most unique local businesses. It is the most relaxed, laid back and (yet) progressive festival in the marketplace today, a true urban event in the middle of downtown Austin.

WHAT: In addition to Fun Fun Fun Fests outstanding musical line-up, the festival will also host an array of activities to keep fans busy between sets. Fans can check out the festivals mechanical bull, skate ramp, live screen-printing, photo booth, Flip cam interviews, API poster show, band merchandise and food and fashion from some of Austins favorite local businesses.

Fun Fun Fun Fest has partnered up with Under Pressure (www.handsonscreenshop.com) to give festival attendees what they deserve: an opportunity to design their own FFF T-shirt, hoodie, bandana, tank top, or anything else they can come up with. Under Pressure will also be selling a limited addition FFF poster print. The API poster show will highlight various accomplished poster artists from across the United States, who will present posters on Fun Fun Fun Fest artists and others.

Fun Fun Fun Fests skate ramp will be rolled out by Find N Grind Skate Shop, (www.myspace.com/findngrindsk8shop), one of Central Texas' finest skate shops and crews. This year, they will host a post-apocalyptic skate session with a custom "coffin extension" on the ramp, facing the black stage in honor of the great one, Glenn Danzig.

Food and fashion will abound, as some of Austins favorite local businesses set up shop on festival grounds, including: Frank, Woodland, Spanish Village, Rubys BBQ, Snowie, Parlour Pizza, Mambo Berry, Tiffs Treats, Boomerangs Pies, Zen, Austin Cornucopia, Prototype, Birds Barbershop, Toy Joy, Big Rig Vintage and Shyana Gifts (glass pipes). Austin non-profit organizations the SIMS Foundation and Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM) will also be on hand at FFF to raise awareness of their causes benefiting local musicians.

In 1987 -- post-Misfits, post-Samhain -- Glenn Danzig started his enduring musical vehicle with Danzig. At Samhains final show at the Ritz in July of 1986, RIck Rubin was cruising for bands to sign to his new label, Def Jam. He was smitten with Samhain (who wouldnt be?) and pitched a record deal. Within the year, Danzig had put together a new ensemble and was calling it Danzig. The band released their eponymous album on what was by this time Def American recordings in 1988. The album was a departure from the classic three-chord horror-rock Danzig fans were used to, emerging as a guttural, thick and still a little scary hard rock band with a bit of a debt to the blues. In the early 90s, Danzig himself rose to a brighter spotlight than he was used to. Unable to sing about child rape and ghouls in underground obscurity any longer, he found himself under the scrutinizing eye of Christian lyric watchdogs. Though hes always insisted that evil is only a preoccupation and Satanism is just a reference in his lyric-writing, he promptly used the opportunity of a music video to draw an upside-down cross on a womans body in blood. No biggie.

The 90s also heralded a couple lineup changes, a rights showdown with Rubin after leaving American, more lineup changes and a few new records with tours. By 2006, Danzig was tired of the monster tour and warned that moving forward, tours would be small, localized and special. Presently, theres talk of a new Danzig record due in September. Well all have a chance to hear it before he takes the stage in November, so get your earplugs and face paint ready.

In August 2008, Glenn announced that Danzig (the band) would do a 20th anniversary tour, celebrating the release of their self-titled debut album. This was the band's first full US tour in three years, which also included stops in Canada, Mexico and possibly South America. The sets on the tour were expected to start with "Skin Carver" and follow in sequence through their first three albums and into the present.

Also asked in August 2008 if the ninth Danzig album was planned, Glenn replied:

	I have been in the studio here and there working on new songs but don't know when they will come out. I was thinking of putting one up on the Danzig site so the fans could check it out. Even thought about doing one on this tour.

In May 2009, Tommy Victor confirmed that the next Danzig album is planned for release in September 2009. Both Tommy Victor and Johnny Kelly will appear on the record. The track listing currently includes songs titled Long Dark Road and Black Candy.

Then, unexpectedly, in August of 2009, Glenn Danzing announced that he and his band had been confirmed to play the Fun Fun Fun Fest in Austin, Texas in November of 2009. And you will be there.

Detroits long lost DEATH rises from the dead for FFF 09

In the early 70s, brothers David, Bobby and Dannis Hackney started a band in their Detroit garage. Fed by a healthy rotation of Alice Cooper, the Stooges and Black Sabbath, the trio recorded a demo under the moniker of DEATH. The demo saw a bit of radio play, and eventually caught the attention of Clive Davis of Columbia records. The band recorded ...For the Whole World to See in 1973. Things were looking good for the brothers until Davis decided they needed to change their name. David Hackney would have no part of it, and the band took a break in Vermont with their half-brother for what was supposed to be a couple of weeks.

30+ years later, Robert Manis turned the folks at Drag City onto a 45 he'd paid $800 for by a band called Death. Since then, rock critics around the world have been stupified by what they've heard. Since the release of ...For the Whole World to See earlier this year, many have called for a complete revision of the rock'n'roll history books. Turns out, punk rock was happening in Detroit's urban garage scene long before Richard Hell & the Voidoids (1977), the Sex Pistols (1975) or Bad Brains 1977).

Inspired by an album he originally thought was some sort of sick prank, Transmission's Graham Williams decided to reach out to Death and invite them to perform at this year's Fun Fun Fun Fest. The kind folks at Drag City made a couple long distance calls to Vermont and soon enough, they were confirmed. Since David Hackney passed away in 2000, this lineup of Death will likely include Bobbie Duncan, a guitar player from Lambsbread (the Hackneys' reggae outfit).
