Post-festival thoughts
Thank you, Transmission Entertainment, for another wonderful FFFFest. 2009 didn't have the best weather, but the lineup was superb and the execution of the event was fantastic, as always.
Already looking forward to FFFF 2010.

Crystal Castles fucking SUCKED. What was their deal? They played for only twenty god damn minutes, sounded like complete shit and there were no vocals or good songs!!!!! Super angry about their set.

RE: Post-festival thoughts
i beg to differ, being close to the front for crystal castles was an amazing experience. high energy, being shoved around, having alice scream in my face. it was one of my favorite acts. i agree, the set was short, but whatever.

Anyone know what happened with the girl who collapsed and had seizures during the final song of Crystal Castles' set? She okay?

Ditto, great job with FFF '09!!! And at least there wasn't a dust issue this year...

Mulch Mulch Mulch!!!
The rain really wasn't the issue, it was the mud. But in areas where there was mulch on top of the dirt, (esp by the black stage between the sidewalk & the stage), it wasn't bad at all. But around other stages (blue especially & orange) it was a straight mud bath.
I'd suggest more mulch be thrown down in the dirt/low grass areas for next year. Not only would it help prevent so much mud during rain, but it would also help cut down on dust in windy conditions. Definitely a good investment for 2010.
And btw, was THRILLED it was actual dirt/mud & not reconstituted Dillo Dirt. ;)
Overall a great fest. Can't wait for 2010! =) -

loved everything except that i was denied to bring in water only to find out you guys were selling it at $3 a bottle. that is most certainly not very fun at all.

The rain was the 91st band to play FFF this year. Headlining Day 2, it clearly decided that set times are for pussies and forged through an unforgiving 10 hour set. That's the kind of ROCK I signed up for!
Thank you Transmission for booking them this year.
I've since gone out and purchased all the albums on itunes. Instant classics. -

The Jesus Lizard was AMAZING a million percent better than when I saw them at Pitchfork. Young Widows new set was extra rockin', Melt Banana was super great (first time I had seen them) Saturday overall was a BLAST. Sunday was a bit harsher, the rain was a bummer - although I realize out of everyone's control, and I had a hard time getting into anything till the headliners, at which time GZA had my head bobbin, and Danzig had my head banging. Notable exception was Astronautilous, whose freestyle rap on squirrels, the twilight zone, asians, sack lunch and syphillis was seriously impressive.

Possibly the best set of the weekend!! -

RE: Post-festival thoughts
Gahh why did they have to put Danzig, GZA, and WKUK so close together? Les Savy Fav and The Cool kids so close too?? :( Would have been HISTORIC if i got to see all of them.

RE: Post-festival thoughts
I thought it went flawlessly the first day, but the second kind of went down the tube, due to the rain. The sound systems were failing and it made every SINGLE band late or have some sort of malfunction. Ex. Danzig took FOREVER, around 45 minutes to just set up to start playing, not because he was brooding but because the damn drums couldn't get the right sound, the mics kept messing up. Made me sad.
Probably my favorite stage was the blue stage, it didn't matter what else was going on, if you wanted to dance that was your answer, and I definitely needed my spirits lifted after being bogged down in the rain.
Overall, it was a pretty awesome experience, I just hope they don't follow the apparent trend and double ticket prices next year. -
