ACL - Quick Review (my ACL retirement)
Went to ACL for the 4th straight year. This being my final, probably. It's just too much buck for bang. It's now being taken over by middle schoolers. Never seen so many young people. Maybe I'm just getting super old (30). The lineup is not as good as it was when I was there years ago and all the artist I want to see usually conflict with artists I want to see. Plus, I always seem to catch some head cold when it's all said and done.
This doesn't mean there were some great acts there and I saw pretty much everyone I wanted to see. But it is hard to go from one end of the park to the other..case in point; yesterday moving from Two Door Cinema Club to Die Antwoord. What a nightmare!
So this might be last year at ACL unless I can score the $50 tickets. I did find some free parking this year and at a reeasonable spot.
Best bands I caught, in no particular order:
Old 97s
Weezer
Black Lips
Crystal Castles
Iggy and the Stooges
Two Door Cinema Club
Jack White
The Shins
The Roots
Big KRIT
Die Antwoord
Neil Young
Black Keys
A-Trak
M83
Afgan Whigs
Tegan and Sara

@Rachel...I wanted to chat more but as soon as Crystal Castles were done, we had to get going. Long drive back to B/CS and busy day at work Monday. I'm sure I'll run into you at FFFF. Bring your game face.

I feel the same way about ACL. Maybe I'm getting too old but I am just tired of the mass of people and having to sit through two bands to be close for one.

It was a standard Old 97s set which was a slight bummer but they sounded great and opened with Barrier Reef.

This is pretty much the groups I would have tried to see, had I gone. Did Old 97's do a "Too Far to Care" show or was it more of a regular-format?
