Michael Stipe to Produce Barry Manilow-Themed Rom-Com

Well, here's a weird one: R.E.M. frontman Michael Stipe is going to help bring a Barry Manilow-themed romantic comedy into the world. Variety reports that Stipe and fellow Single Cell Pictures production company partner Sandy Stern, along with Playtone partners Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman, are developing a rom-com based on Manilow's songbook.
