DOOM Preps Odds-and-Ends Comp, Works With TVOTR's David Sitek?
Before releasing the comeback album Born Like This earlier this year, the mysterious masked MC DOOM had been relatively quiet for a couple of years. But for someone as incredibly prolific as DOOM, relatively quiet still isn't that quiet. On the forthcoming odds-and-ends compilation Unexpected Guests, we'll hear some of what he was up to before Born Like This.
Unexpected Guests collects a number of DOOM tracks from various sources. There's rare and unreleased material here, and there's also a ton of music recorded with various collaborators, including A-listers like Ghostface Killah and GZA. Some of the music here comes from DOOM's quiet period, like the two tracks from producer Jake One's White Van Music album. A few are even older, like "Da Supafriendz", DOOM's collaboration with Cannibal Ox member Vast Aire. DOOM himself picked all the tracks for Unexpected Guests, which is coming October 27 from Gold Dust.
