New Public Enemy Album(s)
Oh, P.E...you sneaky bastards! Looks like my favorite rap crew quietly released two albums this year: "Most of My Heroes..." in July and "The Evil Empire of Everything" last month. I've heard bits and pieces of both albums for a few months now but didn't realize that they were both already out. My curiosity stoked, I took a tour of the interwebs to see if I could peep some more new tunes. Lo and behold, I managed to find a complete stream of "The Evil Empire..." and let me tell ya: this shit is molten lava fucking hot! Funky as all get-out, hard as shit and full of some more of Chuck's patented wisdom, this is easily my favorite album of theirs since their '80s heyday. To be honest, I'm pretty much stunned: these guys actually sound TOUGHER than they did 20 years ago! I'm definitely gonna have to buy both of these when I get a little more cash in my emaciated wallet.

It really is an excellent: based almost entirely on funk riffs, it's got a genuinely old-skool feel to it that doesn't feel forced. Flav's two songs are actually really good, probably better than anything he's done since "911 is a Joke," although neither song is as great/topical as the old classic. And Chuck? Well, that dude never seems to phone a performance in, regardless of what's going on around him. I would highly recommend checking this out!

No shit, eh? If the first one is as good as "The Evil Empire of Everything," this may just be a new golden age for PE!
