DINOSAUR JR WEBCAST TONIGHT

Thu, Oct 8, 2009 at 1:05 PM By: Bad Guy Zero

Tonight starting at 7:30 Texas time NPR will be webcasting Dinosaur Jr's set from the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC. Lou Barlow's opening set promoting his solo album Goodnight Unknown will kick-off the webcast [I guess Lou gets double drink tickets].

I never got to see the classic lineup in the 80s. I had a ticket to see them at Club Clearview in Dallas on the Bug tour in 1989. But a freak winter storm [in March/April] had the highways into the metromess shut down and they were unable to get into the city. They never rescheduled the show. I saw DJ several times in the 90s but Lou and Murph were no longer in the band.

I finally got to see THE Dinosaur Jr. a few years ago when Joseph, Lou, and Murph re-formed the classic lineup. Their tight set belied the years they had spent not playing together. That night they performed nearly every song from You're Living All Over Me as well as songs from Dinosaur and Bug. They even did their memorable version of The Cure's "Just Like Heaven"!!!

I'm looking very forward to tonight's webcast. Get more info about the band and the webcast here. In case you miss it NPR generally archives the webcasts and makes them available via the All Songs Considered Podcast.
