STATE FAIR OF TEXAS

Fri, Oct 8, 2010 at 9:37 PM By: BonnieBlowtorch

We have lived in the DFW area for the last 10 years and have never been. I scored free parking and admission for four, thanks to one of my lovely student's family. Have you guys ever been? Anything that is a must do? I heard the fried beer tastes like shit, so will probably skip that one. Come Sunday we'll find out what all the hoopla is about. Hopefully it will bring sense to all the previous chastising received.

Thanks, Toni! I will definitely go check out your friend Jolie. I have to be near there to see my student in her Ukrainian dance group and then her dad sings at the fair, too. Thanks for the heads up.

I will definitely post a follow up after we get home tomorrow! Hope everyone is a having a great weekend.

Lifelong Austinite, never been to the State Fair. I hear, in addition to the fried beer, that there's lots of other fried stuff on the menu there. Post a follow up and let us know what you saw and ate!!! :)

I always liked the car show, but I'm easy to entertain. The giant ferris wheel is also completely awesome. My friend Jolie Holliday will be singing on the Chevrolet Stage inside the car show all day long. She's a country singer, but a really great one. Other than that, I always liked the little maze houses and stuff.
