How to make your own Unicorn costume for RachelWentCrazy's Scavenger Hunt Team (Gay Unicorn Food)! This is a presentation that works best if you imagine me impersonating Bob Villa.


Let's start with the shopping list: Construction Paper, Paint Brush, Acrylic Pink & White paint, School Glue, Aluminum Foil, Glitter Glue, masking tape and two big ass boxes.


Attach the boxes together to form a head and muzzle shape. Tape up all corners, open spaces, and clear packing tape remnants with masking tape. You'll be able to paint over masking tape easier than duct tape or clear packing tape.


Prepare your palette. Use equal parts white & pink.


First coat of paint.


Rainbow colored mane. Well, mostly. It's ROY G B, because the construction paper booklet did not include IV. Your unicorn's mane could be more colorful than mine.


Ears.


Second coat of paint. Also, we've assembled and attached the aluminum foil horn to the front. It's been affixed firmly in place with duct tape. The duct tape has been covered in masking tape and then painted over.


I added the ears while coat two was drying so the school glue and paint would dry together and strengthen the bond. I did have to prop the ears up against a shoe box to get them to dry in place with drooping. I also attached masking tape to them in several spots and then painted over the masking tape for support.


And then we added the rainbow Mane.


Now the head is totally assembled. Eyes have been made from spare bristol board instead of the construction paper. Eye color was done with glitter glue, which we're going to use a shitload more of in our next pictures.


I was just trying to mostly make swirl patterns and stuff. I don't really have anything insightful to say about this part.


I've never made a unicorn head before, eiher. This was started yesterday afternoon at 4PM and completed mostly around 2:30AM.


I got so many weird and awesome stares today. And high fives. And some dudes with crotch rockets asked me to come pose with their bikes.
