DOOOM!
Seeing how my whole life is fun fun fun, it only made sense to traverse the Rocky Mountains and make it official in Austin. Tonight the tour of doom/sludge legends crashes through Seattle: Saint Vitus, Weedeater & Sourvein! Local metallers Mos Generator opens, featuring Tony Reed of Stone Axe & Treepeople.
Saint Vitus, of course just as saintly and vital as Black Sabbath in laying the blueprints for what is now modern doom metal, I had just seen on Day 4 of Maryland Deathfest last Memorial Day weekend. The rain came during their crushing set when it was needed most - especially to a Nor'wester like myself: not used to the days of soul-sucking humidity - and everyone writhed and rocked to the romantic sounds of Doom's Godfathers.
The highlight for me, though, will be Weedeater. Always is.
