Austin, TX. - Inception.
It was one of the last few warm summer nights in mid September. Half-drunk and shouting madness at the crowd of people gathered around me, as is my standard modus operandi. There was a lull in the conversation and Brianne McKinnon, who was sitting next to me at the time, asked me if I had heard about FunFunFunFest.
I hadn’t.
She deftly reached for the phone at her side and began to show me the line-up of, what I didn’t know at the time, would be one of the greatest experiences of my life. Without thinking (or even really reading the itinerary of musical performers she presented) I committed to this adventure and the long and arduous road of anticipation began. At this time we were only a three-strong tactical strike squad of musical emissaries; Jeremy, Brianne and Myself. This number was about to grow in an exponential fashion.
What was once three became five.
What was five became seven.
Seven blossomed into ten.
Finally, ten ballooned into fourteen.
Fourteen of us, hailing from three different provinces of the commonwealth, were scheming an unprecedented and immeasurable invasion of Texas soil.
