silent disco

Have any of you guys done this before?!?!?! It sounds freaking' awesome!!! and possibly a great idea for getting away with playing live music past the stupid curfew outdoors! So pretty much you get a set of headphones and you can choose from a "station" usually connected to a dj's feed. The artist/ dj plays the music but you can't hear it unless you have headphones on! Like I said it's usually dj's and the headphones light up a different color according to the station you're listening to, it's kind of like a competitions. I'm going to one tonight, it's my first time but they do these on the reg at the Enchanted Forest here in south Austin. If we can somehow make this work at a festival it could have the potential for epic awesomeness. No more fest goers bitching about how early the show is over (myself included) and none of those pesky fines from the city. I'm not sure how we would make it work for a whole festival as opposed to a group of maybe 200-300 ppl tops. I'll let you know how it goes.

I don't believe Silent Discos should exist. We cannot silence the music makers. We should be able to rock all night. I say the city of austin send out noise cancelling headphones to all its citizens so they can wear them to sleep when they don't want to hear music. Just a thought! :p

Preach it Ross!!! Snarf, I had no idea that cool at least we know it can work in a festival setting. Steven, you bring up a very good beer point, drinks are also cheaper. The silent disco I went to ended up being pretty awesome. I will most def go to another one.

Headphones is a good idea. The Austin Curfew is too early. The title of Live Music Capital of the world is threatened due to the noise curfew.

honestly have never heard of this before but it sounds pretty cool. not sure how practical it'd be for F3Fest but it'd be cool to have the fest go on into the wee hours of the morning. then again, they usually have a ton of "after party" shows (where the 21+ crowd can actually get good beer).
