After a few listens I am now finally able to give my honest appraisal of the first of the three new Green Day albums. While not a brilliant piece of work from start to finish like I consider Insomniac and Nimrod to be, it's still great. The standout tracks for me are "Let Yourself Go" and "Oh Love". Oddly enough, I didn't care for "Oh Love when I first heard it, because I just thought it hokey, but it's grown me. Another favorite is "Kill The DJ", another song I initially dismissed but now like. All in all, I think it stands up to the rest of their catalog and is actually way the fuck better than 21 Guns and whatever that shit they put out in 2003 was(not American Idiot, it was something really dumb that I hated and don't want to look up).
