took my pit and lab to the vet

The pit is 4 pounds overweight and the lab is 4 pounds underweight. The lab is a really finicky eater. I want to say hes about 12 or 13, he doesn't really act like it though. I think my 2 yr old pit keeps him active. I dont understand why one dog is fatter than the other being they both eat the same amount of food.
