So I'm trying to get to Houston for my friends' show at Notsuoh on the 30th. They're a pretty awesome halloween-themed band whose music I can't really describe with words. Their name is OffiSir God. Billy grafts video clips and movie scenes from vhs tapes and makes video collages that he projects in the venu usually. We usually make bracelets for them to throw to the crowd, and they are in costume. I am in costume. :) I've done art for their fliers. Mal has a beautiful singing voice and Billy likes to sometimes record himself reading the Tibetan Book of the Dead (in Tibetan from what I remember) and play it backward. Their art is not only through sound, but image and different evocations of different aspects of the human psyche, expressions of the ego, and gods and goddesses through costume. In short, it's quite a different experience. Also if you live in Houston, go to their Halloween shows.

The last time I saw OffiSir God on Halloween, they'd set up their televisions and art and projected some great clips of horror films and footage Billy had shot in video collages. By the end of their set, everyone was skanking to Last Caress, and pumpkins were flying. I was dressed as a house fly. I'd made my own wings with wire and a tight blue mesh. I knew there was the promise they'd be jangled and mashed up by the end of the night, which they of course were. It was absolutely fine by me though. The rest of the costume was pretty simple- black bodysuit, large red sunglasses, buc'ees boxers over the suit, and sneakers. I didn't have any lasting damage to it by the pumpkin throwing. A man at the venue was talking to me and making me pretty uncomfortable- to which karma acted swiftly with a chunk of pumpkin to the head.

The point of the post is: OffiSir God is a great local Houston band. Instant karma will be administered at their shows. Go in costume.
