Local Shows
Time to type something up real quick in an attempt to be social and get enough points for PIP so I don't have the spend the cash! Has anyone been to any great local shows? I've been to a few and just got tix to see The Soldier Thread at Stubbs (YAY!) Wonder if they will play FFF Fest next year? I love seeing as many bands at FFF fest and all year long as far as that goes but for some reason I get really excited to see local acts at the festivals. Austin Pride??? Maybe :) I saw T-Bird and the Breaks at the Mohawk and they were still great but not what I was expecting since the girls and the horns were missing. Guess they travel light when they tour as they are getting ready to do, and that make total financial since but like I said, not what I expected. The sound was still great and the guys are all great performers, the songs were awesome, it was just different. I also caught Girl in a Coma, The Boxing Lesson, the Hi-Tones, Stereo is a Lie, the Baker Family, December Boys, The Soldier Thread, Love Inks, Pataphysics, Boonesbough, and Slug Bug and Elle King. So far it's been a great year for live music! If you have a chance to catch Elle King go for it! Her cover of my neck, my back was unexpected as well as hysterical.

Most of the shows I've been to this year were part of the "free week" during the 1st week of January. It's an awesome time to be in Austin .... and it's my Birthday week! I always joke that free week is Austins B-Day gift to me! hehe!

I've been a bad girl this year and haven't caught half as many shows as i did last year :( I too rather enjoy the local bands at the festivals. I think it is Austin pride, we just want them to succeed so badly.
